Stop 2- Portugal

Lucky for me, Steve had a conference in Portugal, and I got to go too. We had a great time. Portugal is beautiful- cobbled streets and beautiful colored tiled houses. We have so many great memories from our time here. We went to Lisbon for about 2 days and Aviero for 5 days. Aviero is this beautiful town about 3 hours by train away from Lisbon. It has manmade waterways throughout the town. I was able to explore it while Steve was at his conference. The conference took everyone on a day trip by boat through the canals and into the sound to an island for a traditional Portuguese barbecue and the beach. We were able to meet everyone else at the conference and just relax. I can go on for ever about what we did, but I’m sure you would rather see some pics!

The places you visited in Portugal look awesome. Not too crowded and just beautiful. Defintely a place to put on my list of places to see.

I missed Portugal when I studied abroad and now I totally wish I hadn’t!

Studied Landscape Architecture during fall semester 1971 at U of Lisbon and lived in Ciscash (phonetic spelling)on the coast. Next time be sure you see the Alfama district in Lisbon, the Algarve region, the city of Coimbra and the mountains in the north. The people are the most friendly I met in all of europe the food is plain, simple and utterly fantastic, especially in little family owned restaraunts where the working class people eat, not the tourists. Long term living is cheap. Just don’t try to speak spanish to them. It’s good to be reminded of my time there. I was not Aviero but I should have been it looks very nice. I’m glad you both got to see something of the country.
